We love our Rebels!
Every year we get season tickets to Ole Miss Football games. We don the Red and Blue and head to Oxford for some fun (the game's not always fun, but the socializing is!). The kids, bless their hearts, have been dragged to ballgames since they were babies, so they have never really known the difference in NOT going to see the Rebels play. Thank goodness they really enjoy it! The past few years we have gotten seats with our friends, the Jobes (Brad, Vonda, Madison, Ian and Halle), and have had a great time tailgating and spending time with them. Brad and Terry went to high school together (were both ace pitchers at Corinth High School), and Brad was one of my best friends in college, so we go back 'aways'. It is a blessing to spend time with them now that we're all "grown up" and have kids of our own.
We have stuck by the Rebs through thick and thin, good times and bad, and are truly excited about the season this year. We have a new head coach, Houston Nutt, and he has "kicked things up a notch"! Several notches! It should be fun to see what unfolds, and I hope there will be many W's ahead! Right now we're 2-2 (0-1 in the SEC). The 2 losses were close and probably both were games we should have won, but there are positives and we can't wait for the next game!
The kids favorite part of the day is the tailgating, and believe it or not, the game (for Avery and Anna anyway - Tanner's coming along!). Avery and Anna are really learning the game and actually sit there and actively watch! And poor things, they have stayed the entire game since birth, so luckily that has sunk in and they now WANT to stay until the end! They loved Eli Manning and Patrick Willis in the past, but are trying to figure out their favorites this year. The eating is always fun, of course, and now that we have changed our tailgating spot, the kids can play some ball themselves! Even the adults get in on the action (after all, I (mom) was the Chi Omega Intramural Flag Football QB for 3 years of college and still have a little game!).
One of my favorite parts is the time we get to spend together as a family, and with dear friends. Of course, the game is my other favorite part - since my blood runs red and blue. These are days and memories I will always treasure, and hope our kids do too.
High Fiving Jevan Sneed, the Rebel QB - Avery got a full handshake from Coach Nutt!
