Back in April, Anna's soccer team made it to the District Soccer Tournament held here in Tupelo. Her team, the Blue Wave, went undefeated in the regular season and won their league! The top 4 teams from the U10 Tupelo league made it to District and her team was the top seed from the North.
Each team was guaranteed to play 3 games, so on Saturday, they played 2 games and won both - 6-1 and 6-2! They did great!!!! Anna's team has had the best time this year. They have really gotten to be good friends and have had a lot of fun together. Sunday morning rolled around for the 3rd game and despite wet conditions, they pulled off another win (4-1) and made it to the semi-finals. In the semi's, they won again (2-0 - Anna scored BOTH goals!!) to move on to the finals!! So exciting! The finals were played Sunday afternoon and they, unfortunately, lost to a Starkville team that was really good. They seemed more like a travel team than a Park and Rec team, but it was a good experience for the girls to play that kind of competition.
So after all these games, they came in 2nd place! Not too shabby! And it also meant they would move on to the State Cup Tournament in Brandon, MS!! Woohoo!! They received medals for their 2nd place finish and were very excited about that.
