Softball 2010

This summer, Avery and Anna once again hit the softball fields. However, this year, they also played on a 'true' travel softball team too, called the Tupelo Express. Their park and rec teams were slow pitch softball, but the Express team was slow and fast pitch. This was their first season to play fast pitch softball. It is pretty different from slow pitch - you can bunt and steal, have to have a good pitcher and catcher, etc.- so all of us, parents included, had some learning to do.

Avery was on a U12 team and her Daddy was the coach. Anna played on the U10 Express team coached by Tony Knight. It was a long, hot summer and we were at a tournament most every weekend (all but 2!). The girls had the most success in the slow pitch tournaments and Avery's team even won medals for a 3rd place finish! Winning the "hardware" is always fun for them! Playing ball every weekend, plus park and rec games during the week was a little much. Thank goodness the park and rec season ended soon after school was out! Both girls had a lot of fun with their teammates and traveling a little bit. We are so blessed that they are able to have these opportunities!

This pic was taken at Anthony's, a restaurant in West Point. We stopped there to eat after a hot day at a softball tournament and they seated us in a very dark corner. We laughed hysterically half the meal because we figured they didn't want other customers around our sweaty selves! Good times!!
