Before we get too far from softball season, I have to say a little about my oldest. From all I have written about Anna and Tanner's ball playing, we must take note that Avery was NOT m-i-a (missing in action). Despite the lack of pictures and explanations of pictures, Avery was very much a part of all this ball playing. And not just a small part - to me, she played a huge part!
This summer, softball-wise, Avery was supposed to move up and play fast pitch for the first time. To make a long story short, the guy in charge of Tupelo Park and Rec softball dropped the ball - literally - and the league did not happen, despite the fact there were enough girls signed up to have at least 2 teams and 3 out of town teams had agreed to play too. So... for the first summer in 7 years of playing softball, Avery did not get to play. She was disappointed and us parents were disappointed for her. However....
Avery rebounded and became the biggest fan for Anna's softball team. Through the practices and games, Avery helped in whatever way she could. She was the cheerleader in the dugout, the catcher behind the catcher during games, and the one to run for ice if there was an injury. Although she didn't get on the field to play, she was a vital part of the Meineke/Tupelo Express team and I am so proud of her for being such a good sport in so many ways. We try to teach our kids how very important it is to be a good sport, on whatever playing field they're on, but Avery showed us all a new way to do this, and we couldn't have asked for more.
Avery, we're always proud of you - but we're especially proud of you for being so supportive of your sister and for making the best of things this summer.
We love you!!
