Bedtime with Tanner

Tanner is now 5 1/2 years old and for a long time, bedtime has been a highlight of my day (and not just because I'm finally getting a break!!). Terry and I take turns with who we get to bed each night. The girls still share a room, so one of us gets them to bed, and the other one of us gets Tanner to bed. I'm not sure what Terry does with Tanner or the girls other than say their prayers with them, but most nights when I am with Tanner, we end up laughing ourselves silly. We always say our prayers and then I say my little saying to him: "I love you to infinity......(it's sort of long!)...." At the end of that I say "Do you know why I love you?" and he answers (normally) "Because I'm Tanner". What gets us laughing most of the time is what he subsitutes into that last part. Some nights he'll sing it out "Because I'm Tanneerrrrr!!". Other times he'll say stuff like "Because I'm BB" (for a while each member of our family was BB something- Tanner was BB1, I was fortunate to be BB2, Anna was BB3, Avery was BB4 and Terry brought up the end with BB5 -- we don't know where this came from!). During the last Olympics, I guess 2 years ago, we watched them nightly and he would say "Because I'm Apollo" (as in Apollo Ono - the speed skater). He totally cracks me up! If he doesn't say something at this part of our ritual, when I'm walking out of the room, he'll sing out "Gooooddd Niiiiggghhhttt!!!" or "Turn on the bathroom liiiigghht",and spread both arms out wide. He is so funny! We laugh so hard some nights the girls will hear us and run into Tanner's room to see what we're doing. Tanner gets the hiccups when he laughs hard and he almost always get them. I could just eat him up!! My little hilarious man!

Tanner is asleep here and that pillowcase is his favorite - Super Friends!The Super Friends sheets were actually my brother, Mike's, which makes them about 25 years old!! Thanks to Gran for saving them!
